** Pensioned Personal Computers **

** Retired PC's and Compatibles ***

These elderly PC's were collected throughout my working life and after I retired, the pace of development has left a lot of machines isolated with Old Dos only O/S's and Early verisons of Windows.

Most of these machines were dead on arrival.

But all are now working and provide access to older software which is now not supported on newer machines. Where do you plug in an old ISA card for testing in a modern PC. The answer is Tough Luck, as the ISA slots have all been designed out.

XT's

Amstrad PPC 520 ( 2 x 720k floppy )

Amstrad PPC 640, and another PPC 640 with a 20 mb HD ( yes it was a surprise to me too )

Tandy 1110 HD ( 20 MB hd ) but floppy drive problems.

AT's ( just aboout )

Book P.C. v1.0 ( very early 386/25mhz ) Tiny foot print and very compact mini PC.

Compaq 386/20 Portable, Now 100mb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 4mb Ram

Compaq 386/20 Portable, Now 100mb HD, with 1.2 floppy, 2mb Ram

Tiny 486/33, Now 540mb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 4mb Ram

Compaq 286/SLT Portable, Now 100mb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 4mb Ram

Clone Pentium 150, Now 2.5gb with 1.4 floppy, 16mb Ram

Clone 386/20 CDOS machine, Now 100mb HD, with 1.4 and 1.2mb floppy, 8mb Ram

Clone Pentiun II / 333mhz, Now 2.5gb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 64mb Ram

Clone Athalon / 700mhz, Now 2.5gb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 64mb Ram

Clone Duron / 750mhz, Now 60gb HD, with 1.4 floppy, 128mb Ram

Without some of these machines, some problems were not possible to solve.

A repair for a friend recently, needed a 64mb Dimm testing but it was an old 5 Volt Dimm. Most modern machines would not support this old standard, but one of my old Pc's did so the Dimm was tested and the problem resolved. ( just for the record that Dimm was for a MAC 5500/225 PPC) There are so many resources on the net for PC products and drivers. I you want to repair an old PC's then.

Start Here at :-"Hand me down PC Page" It is an online book, of about 10 years ago, and a good place to start for information on elderly PC's.
Or if you just want to talk about working on old PC's or just need a pointer for further infomation then, please contact us on this email addreses:-
